A paddle-boat ride across Nepal’s Phewa Lake will soon lead travellers to luxury eco-villas in the Himalayas.

Opening 22 November, the Pavilions Himalayas Lake View will open, becoming what the company described as “the first luxury tented eco-villas of their kind in Nepal”. Once open, travellers will be able to access the eight villas, which are surrounded by rice fields and the Annapurna Himalayas, by paddle boat. They will arrive on the other side and take a short hike along a mountain trail to get to the tents, or a Jeep transfer is also available on request. If you are feeling up to a challenge, you can also take a five-hour trek from its sister hotel, the Pavilions Himalayas.

But, once they’ve made the journey, guests will find open villas with unobstructed views of the landscape. Surrounded by nature, it will be easy for guests to spend their days trekking in the mountains, kayaking on the lake, taking guided walks led by a local naturalist, or just relaxing and meditating. With a focus on wellness, there will also be a chance to visit the team of therapists for wellness experiences “combining foraged botanicals and traditional healing techniques”.

The hotel will also serve food made with produce grown at the hotel’s own organic farm. The farm-to-table dining will showcase traditional Nepalese cuisine and international dishes, and there will even be lakeside barbecues to let visitors enjoy a camping experience.

The eight tented villas will keep guests in comfort, but will also give them the chance to feel close to nature. There are 40-square-metre classic villas, 50-square-metre grand villas, and 82-square-metre royal villas. They are made with natural and local materials, with floor-to-ceiling, fully-retractable wraparound glass doors, al fresco rain showers and more. The hotel is also invested in sustainability, as well as employing and supporting the local community.
