It probably won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but if you fancy the idea of being cuddled for three hours, you can do it on your next trip to LA. Airbnb Experiences is presenting Cuddle Sanctuary Social, an experience for up to 10 people that allows participants to physically connect in a safe environment.
The events are an extension of Cuddle Sanctuary, founded by Jean Franzblau, who hosts the Airbnb Experiences. She says that it took her years to realise that she was touch-deprived, and she used her experience as a corporate trainer and coach to found the cuddle organisation. She provides floor cushions and blankets for participants who can also bring their own pillows and blankets with them, plus a healthy snack to share if they like. They are asked to come free of scents like perfume, cologne or smoke.

The experience begins with a 30-minute orientation, during which the unique etiquette of the cuddle event is explained. Participants embark on a soothing series of activities to help them breathe, relax and let go, and they can practise their newfound skills in paired and group activities that always have non-touch options. “It’s about this time that the magic starts to happen,” says Jean. “You will be amazed how comfortable you feel as the event transitions to our cuddle laboratory. You may find yourself laughing, talking, holding hands, hugging, sharing stories and yes, cuddling.”
Jean says that they have perfected the experience so that participants have a chance to connect and have fun without feeling pressure to touch anybody. Those taking part meet at the Love Dome yoga studio in Venice and the event costs $29 (€25.77). For further information and booking, see here.
