Visiting Brazil is about to get simpler for travellers from the US, Canada, Australia and Japan, as the South American country announced it will offer visa-free entry starting in June.

Brazil had introduced an e-visa program for citizens of those countries back in 2018, but effective on 17 June that’s no longer required, meaning travellers from those countries will no longer need to apply or pay for a visa, something that would have set them back about US$40.
They will be able to stay in Brazil for 90 days after their first entry, and will also be able to extend it for another 90 days, as long as they aren’t there for more than 180 days in a twelve-month period.
The new rules come after the country launched its e-visa program to make it simple to get a visa online – eliminating the need for travellers to go through the inconvenience of visiting an embassy or consulate. The changes were intended to boost tourism, and according to Visit Brazil, that led to a 35% increase in visa applications from citizens of those countries in less than a year.

While many travellers might think of Rio de Janeiro when they think of Brazil, as the fifth-largest country in the world, it is incredibly diverse. Travellers can go from white-sand beaches to the rainforest, or explore its many bustling cities and colonial towns.
