With its soaring mountains, shimmering glaciers, alpine meadows and turquoise lakes, there are few places in the world as spectacularly scenic as the Canadian Rockies. It offers the perfect backdrop for wildlife spotting, cycling, rock climbing and stargazing at Jasper National Park, the second largest dark sky preserve in the world. It’s also where you’ll find one of the most picturesque drives in the world, the Icefield Parkways and now, one of Canada’s newest hotels, Glacier View Lodge.

Glacier View Lodge is set against the dramatic backdrop of the Columbia Icefield. Taking advantage of its prime location, the hotel is built around the Athabasca Glacier and almost every room from the restaurant to the lobby and most of the 32 guest rooms are treated to amazing glacier views.

It’s a cosy place where guests are treated to a welcome reception upon checking in with a signature drink and charcuterie. Once they’re settled in, they’ll head out for a tour of Athabasca Glacier with hot chocolate or cider, and then a three-course dinner overlooking the glacier. Evening entertainment is usually a mix of live music or stargazing. The next day a full hot breakfast will is set out to prepare guests for their morning excursion and access to the Glacier Skywalk, a fully accessible, cliffedge walkway that leads to a glass-floored observation platform extending 918 feet over the valley.

“Set amongst one of the most dramatic and visually stunning glacial landscapes in the Canadian Rockies, the re-imagined Glacier View Lodge will invite visitors to experience an overnight stay in a truly unique and unexpected location,” said Dave McKenna, President, Banff Jasper Collection by Pursuit. “This new retreat will enable guests to explore the ancient glacier and surrounding natural environment in an enriching and exclusive way.”

The lodge is located approximately 1.5 hours from the mountain town of Jasper and 2.5 hours from Banff, along the picturesque Icefield Parkway. Open from 1 June through mid-October, all-inclusive packages start at $335 per person.
