Two new exciting additions have been announced for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios and Universal Orlando. In the summer, a Hagrid-themed rollercoaster ride will arrive at the Orlando theme park and in the spring, Hogwarts Castle will conjure the dark arts at both resorts in a mesmerising display of lights, music and special effects. It’s set to unleash some of the darkest creatures of the Harry Potter Universe, including the darkest villain of all… Lord Voldemort.

Just as the days are getting longer and brighter, Universal has something darker and more intense planned for visitors. Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle is a similar projection display to ones that Universal have previously put on, such as the Magic of Christmas at Hogwarts Castle. Although this time festive cheer has been swapped out for chilling suspense, showcasing a darker side of the Harry Potter Universe.

Eerie images of some of the most terrifying characters from the JK Rowling books will stalk the dark skies including Death Eaters, Dementors, Aragog the Spider, Mountain Trolls and even… Lord Voldemort himself. They’ll dance across Hogwarts Castle in an intense light display, accompanied by sweeping orchestral music, until the Patronus spell is cast to chase them all away.
Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle will illuminate Hogwarts Castle and the Wizarding World of Harry Potter nightly from 13 – 28 April Universal Studios Hollywood, and will return from 25 – 27 May. Universal Orlando Resort’s experience will debut later this year with dates to be announced at a later time.

Following the terror of the Dark Arts, Universal has something just as thrilling planned for Orlando in the form of a brand new rollercoaster ride. Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure will launch this summer at Universal Orlando Resort. The rollercoaster will replace the Dragon Challenge in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter on 13 June, 2019. Full details have yet to be announced but according to Universal, visitors can expect to “fly with Hagrid on a thrilling rollercoaster that plunges into the path of some of the Wizarding World’s rarest magical secrets.”
