Until recently, there weren’t many reasons to visit Denver’s industrial RiNo (River North) Arts District neighbourhood. Now it’s a hub for millennial-friendly hotspots and the city’s best hangouts and hotels, including The Source Hotel, a new hotel which boasts some of the best views in the city and a novel way to experience it.

Spring is a great time to visit Denver and blow the winter cobwebs away. The best way to do it is to crank open the windows of your hotel and breathe in the clean, high-altitude air. But many hotels don’t let you open the windows, or if they do, it’s just a slit that does little to help you breathe in fresh air. The Source Hotel – which opened at the end of 2018 in Denver’s trendy RiNo neighbourhood – has a handy solution to truly let the sun shine into its guest rooms: garage doors. Twenty of their guest rooms/suites feature operable glass garage doors, and with a simple push of the button, guests are bringing the outdoors in.

Beyond the guest rooms, the hotel also features an incredible rooftop restaurant/terrace with sweeping views of the downtown Denver skyline and Rocky Mountains, as well as rooftop hot and cold plunge pools. Perfect for taking advantage of Colorado’s famed 300 days of sunshine a year. It packs everything that’s great about the city into one space because The Source isn’t only a hotel but also an artisanal food, drink, gallery and retail space.

On the first floor, the open-plan Market Halls One and Two showcase a range of vintage and designer boutiques, as well as a vinyl record store, a brewery, a barbershop and a contemporary art gallery. Food options include a bakery, taqueria, modern wood-fired restaurant and barbecue and are open throughout the day with delivery available to the room.

When guests check in they can enjoy a complementary pour of whatever small batch beer might be on tap in the lobby courtesy of on-site New Belgium Brewery. The beer is also available at the top-floor Woods restaurant, where glass garage doors roll up on warm days to provide open-air views of the snow-capped mountains.
