With butterfly gardens, art installations, free movies theatres and more, it’s no surprise that Changi Airport has once again been named the best airport in the world. But things at the Singapore airport are about to get even better, as Changi prepares to open an incredible new attraction in April.

The airport took home the title of world’s best airport at the 2019 World Airport Awards by Skytrax for the seventh consecutive year. Winners are chosen by customers in what is described as “the largest, annual global airport customer satisfaction survey,” based on millions of questionnaires answered by people of more than 100 nationalities. Unsurprisingly – due to the aforementioned butterfly garden and movie theatres, as well as its rooftop swimming pool and plenty of other attractions – the airport also won the award for Best Airport Leisure Amenities.
Now, on 17 April, Changi will open the Jewel, an incredible domed building that will house more than 280 stores, food and beverage outlets, a hotel, and plenty of entertainment options. Like most things at Changi, this is designed to stun guests and will even be home to what the airport is calling the world’s tallest indoor waterfall. The 40-metre Rain Vortex will be the centrepiece of the building and is surrounded by lush greenery, mazes, slides and more.
If a trip through Changi isn’t in your future, there are still other amazing airports around the world. The top 10 best airports in the world are: Singapore Changi Airport; Tokyo International Airport (Haneda); Incheon International Airport; Hamad International Airport (Doha); Hong Kong International Airport; Central Japan International Airport; Munich Airport; London Heathrow Airport; Narita International Airport; and Zurich Airport.
