This customisable small camper will get you on the road on a budget

By Adenekan

While there are all kinds of campers and trailers on the market now that are the last word in luxury, a Texas-based company is building basic campers that are designed to get adventurers on the road on a budget. Cargo Camp is retailing an aluminum-clad trailer that is simple in its design and has customisable options.

Cargo Camp was founded to give travellers access to travel and adventure without having to leave their basic creature comforts at home or break the bank. Each trailer is handcrafted in Spring, Texas, and to keep the price low, they are sold directly to the purchaser, thus cutting out the distributors and dealers.

The sturdy box trailers are simply outfitted with a convertible bed/dinette, where the bench seats convert into a two-person bed. There is plenty of storage space, and standard features include USB ports, LED interior and exterior lighting and windows with bug screens.

The ceiling and trailer walls are insulated, and the kitchen area is accessed from the rear of the trailer. There is no bathroom in the trailer, and those who want to use the trailer off-grid can choose to power it using the 200-watt solar package with dedicated battery.

You select the model you want online and and then customise it, choosing from three exterior colours and four interior fabric options. Customisable features include an air conditioning unit, awning, refrigerator or cooler, generator and roof vent.
