If the prospect of going on a road trip around the US seems like a cool thing to do this summer, a new study may be able to give you some inspiration for some good routes to take.
The new ranking of the top road trips was conducted by data firm Geotab. It identified 50 popular road trips under categories like attractions, accommodation and places to eat, as well as on how busy the roads typically are and how long the trips typically take to drive.
It concluded that the best road trip is the Monument Valley Trails, because it says that this route shows off some of the best landscapes that the US has to offer. “From the charming beauty of Monument Valley to the impressive span of the Natural Bridges, this trip provides an opportunity for a great adventure in the rugged landscapes of southern Utah,” it explained.
It allocated second place to the Yellowstone and the Tetons road trip, saying that for explorers and outdoor enthusiasts, it probably doesn’t get any better than following this route. “While travelling through Yellowstone and Grand Teton national parks, road-trippers can marvel at geysers, spot wild animals and take in all of the natural beauty that this journey has to offer,” says Geotab.
The third-placed road trip was the one starting off with an outdoor adventure in the Mesa Verde National Park, which becomes a historical expedition as the route reaches the old mining towns of southern Colorado. The rest of the top ten trips included 4. along the Missouri River 5. Blue Ridge Parkway 6. Oregon’s Pacific Coast 7. Colorado’s Rockies 8. Grand Canyon road trip 9. Hells Canyon Scenic Byway and 10. Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks
The road trips are also categorised into the top routes for food, attractions, weekends away, history and culture and more. You can check out the full study on Geotab’s website here.
