Which? Travel has compiled a list of the safest countries determined by their risk of violent crime, based on stats from the World Economic Fund. Check out the safest countries here:

Iceland

While travellers may have to prepare for harsh weather conditions and dramatic and sometimes dangerous landscapes, when it comes to crime rates, Iceland has one of the lowest in the world.

United Arab Emirates

Full of glitzy cities surrounded by desert landscapes, the UAE is tied with Iceland when it comes to ranking low for violent crime, according to Which? Travel.

Singapore

Though in second place on this list, Singapore is known for being a relatively safe country as has been in the number one spot of similar rankings.

Spain

This European country is famous for its food, wine and diverse culture, but it also makes the list for being the third safest country in the world.

Tied for third place were Australia, Canada, Japan and Morocco.

If you’re the kind of traveller who wants a second opinion, then compare with the results from another recent report on safety. According to the 2018 Global Law and Order report from Gallup, Singapore is the safest country in the world, followed by Norway, Iceland and Finland tied for second place. The ranking was based on responses from more than 150,000 people from around the world on how safe they feel walking alone at night, whether they had been mugged or assaulted, and their confidence in the local police.
