Stay in a boutique Hamptons hotel formerly owned by Donna Karan

By Adenekan

A brand new boutique hotel has opened in The Hamptons, located on a plot of peaceful land just two miles from some of the best and most popular beaches in the area.

Created by Lucy Swift Weber and Charles Lemonides, A Room at the Beach includes an expansive garden and ten rooms that have been meticulously decorated with their own look and feel. Throughout the 1990s the 1.5-acre Bridgehampton property belonged to Alexis Stewart, and her mother, superstar chef Martha Stewart was even responsible for planting the alley redwood trees that now tower above the grounds. From there, it changed hands to Donna and Gaby Karan before finding its current owners.

Walking-distance to the town centre of Bridgehampton, the beach getaway includes an outdoor pool and sauna, and a deck and outdoor common area complete with Weber grills. Guests can rent bicycles to explore local beaches, parks and fishing spots, while on-site yoga classes, massage and aromatherapy are also available by appointment.

“It is unique because of its personal warm touches, resembling more of a family vacation home than a hotel. People are most impressed with the meticulously-designed rooms and the 1.5 acres of lush greenery and magical alley of redwood trees. The natural elements that make the property so unique and beautiful have been preserved,” a representative of A Room at the Beach told Lonely Planet Travel News.

The interior design is inspired by travel, with rooms being based on different locations around the world, including Marrakesh, Harbour Island, Tulum and Ireland. Eight standard rooms are equipped with rainfall showers, while the two suites have concrete sinks, spa tubs and heated floors that are encased in marble and tile.

More information is available at the official A Room at the Beach website.
