Want to train like Rafael Nadal? Well now you can at a resort in Greece where you’ll learn the same methods that turned the tennis star into a Grand Slam-winning champ.
Rafael Nadal is the favourite to win this year’s French Open title, which is currently underway in Paris. Securing the win would be the Spaniard’s 12th French Open title and his 18th major win. While the king of clay smoothly progresses through games at the Roland Garros, his coaching team are putting the finishing touches to tennis programmes that will be available for budding tennis stars at a resort in northern Greece.
Earlier this year the five-star Sani Resort in Halkidiki announced its partnership with Nadal for the opening of the Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre on the grounds of its resort. Aimed at players of all ages and levels, the centre includes eight clay tennis courts and various training programmes which have been designed by Nadal and his coaching team. Visitors to the centre between 21 and 28 of July will even have the chance to be trained under the watchful eye of Toni Nadal, Rafa’s uncle and former coach, using the very same physical and mental training methods used to turn the Spaniard into the world’s number two.
It’s not only tennis fans that the resort caters to. In June, young football fans are invited to take part in Chelsea Football Club Foundation’s coaching week with Paulo Ferreira; the former Chelsea star bestowed with some of Europe’s most prestigious trophies (two Primeira Liga cups, three Premier League titles and the 2004 and 2012 Champions League trophy) as well as being capped 62 times for Portugal. Children between the ages of four and 12 can train with the Ferreira at the UEFA-approved Chelsea FC football pitch at Sani Resort in a specially-designed summer training camp for young footballers.
A five-day course at the Chelsea FCF starts from €240/£212 per child, while a five-day course at the Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre starts from €360/£317 per adult/child. Prices at Sani Beach in a double room start from €104/ £92 per night, on a half-board basis. See here for more details.
