It is believed that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, may take their new baby son on an official tour of Africa later on this year. While it was originally rumoured that the royal couple might move there for an extended period of time on sabbatical, it now appears that they may just go on tour there instead, along with Baby Sussex, on behalf of the UK Government.

The baby boy arrived on May 6, and he will be a few months old when the African tour takes place. According to Royah Nikkhah, royal correspondent for the Sunday Times, Harry and Meghan are expected to visit several countries in Africa in around six months time, taking in some Commonwealth nations that have a close relationship with the UK. If this tour comes to pass, the infant will become one of the youngest royals to go on an official tour.

It is also believed that palace officials are working with the Duke and Duchess to create bespoke roles in Africa for them. The continent is special to Harry and Meghan as they fell in love while camping in Botswana and reportedly went on honeymoon to East Africa. They also went on a three-day trip to Morocco in North Africa earlier this year, where Meghan had a henna tattoo painted on her hand and they visited the residence of King Mohammed VI.

Baby Sussex’s parents are well-travelled, and if such a spectacular African trip comes to pass in a few months, it looks like the newest royal tot will be off to a flying start in the travel stakes.
