If you want to travel to a lost world, then there will be a new chance this summer as Jurassic World – The Ride reopens at Universal Studios Hollywood.
The California theme park has released new details on the attraction, which will update the original Jurassic Park ride to reflect the recent release of the Jurassic World films, which star Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. The ride puts guests in a raft, where they will be immersed in the world of Isla Nublar and will get to see animatronic dinosaurs, including some “all-new fan favorites” from the new films.
The ride will follow a new and original storyline that takes place within the Jurassic World theme park, featuring new dinosaurs, scenic design and “ground-breaking technology that has yet to be experienced within a theme park,” according to Universal Studios.
Guests will hop on board a specially designed raft, which will take them through dense vegetation and into areas that are filled with large dinosaurs that are “just an arm’s length away from visitors.” There will be docile dinosaurs to admire, like a Stegosaurus and Parasaurolophus, but things will quickly get intense when predatory Velociraptors and Dilophosaurus show up and turn the spectators into prey. From there, a Tyrannosaurus rex will begin to battle with one of the attraction’s new dinosaurs, and the rafts will fall down an 84-foot waterfall to escape.
If that’s not enough, next to the ride there will be a new “Raptor Encounter”, where guests can meet Blue, the deadly Velociraptor from the Jurassic World franchise, for a face-to-face encounter. There will be a new interactive Dino Play area, with educational components and there will be videos in the queue to help guests learn more about dinosaurs and the adventure ahead.
