If you’re heading to Las Vegas, you may want to check out the newest branch of Eataly, which has just opened its doors inside Park MGM. The company’s new 40,000-square-feet Italian retail and dining experience brings the total number of Eataly stores to 37 around the world.
Founder Oscar Farinetti first envisioned the Eataly concept in 2002, and, after five years of researching and planning, he opened the first store in Turin in January 2007. The original idea behind Eataly is to gather high-quality Italian food and drink under one roof, where customers can eat, shop and learn.
With the new branch being located inside Park MGM, one of the largest hotels and casinos on the Las Vegas Strip, it’s the first time the company is offering a 24-hour service. It has two restaurants, six takeaway counters, a café and three bars. It also offers a marketplace and gift shop, where visitors can take home pastas, grains, sauces and more imported from Italy, as well as apparel, housewares and keepsakes.
The wine store has more than 1000 wines, with a section offering more than 50 wines for tasting every day. The L’Aperitivo bar is dedicated to the concept of drinking something before dining to stimulate the appetite. The coffee bar, Gran Caffè Milano, offers breakfast, lunch, dinner and cocktails at night, and has a replica of the famous bull mosaic from Milan, which is said to bring good luck to those who spin around it three times.
Cucina del Mercato is an open counter-to-table space that consists of six different fresh counters, where guests can eat what they shop and shop what they eat. They can also watch experts in various departments make fresh pasta, bread, gelato and mozzarella. The location also features an interactive experience with Chef’s Table, which encourages people to explore their senses and the world of Italian food through live culinary demonstrations.
The first US store opened in 2010 in New York City’s Flatiron district and there is now a second location in that city, as well as ones in Chicago, Boston and Los Angeles. Future openings for 2019 include Paris and Toronto, and further information is available here.
