On Saturday, Charles and Camilla touched down in Grenada as part of a 12-day whirlwind tour of the Caribbean. According to the Telegraph, the couple stayed at the Cinnamon Suite of the Spice Island Beach Resort, an all-inclusive, luxury seafront retreat that’s framed by palms and fragrant private gardens and situated on a dazzling and secluded white stretch of beach. It’s run by hoteliers Sir Royston Hopkin and Lady Betty Hopkin and is a favourite with celebrity visitors to Grenada, including the British royals. The newspaper reports that the Queen stayed at the resort in 1966 on her first Caribbean tour, Princess Anne has been twice and Prince Harry visited in 2016.

Located on the quiet, southern end of Grand Anse beach, the award-winning resort offers everything from luxurious accommodation to top-class cuisine, spa facilities and knockout views of the coast, so it’s no surprise that the royal couple chose it as their base in Grenada. There are 64 suites, some with private pools, located along the beachfront or within the tropical gardens. Each suite is decorated in an elegant blend of traditional Caribbean and contemporary chic, with features including flat-screen TVs and toiletries by Molton Brown.

During their visit to the ‘Spice Island’, Charles and Camilla learned about local agriculture and met with the country’s world-famous chocolatiers to learn about the history of cocoa and spice production as Grenada is famous for growing spices including nutmeg and mace, cinnamon, ginger. They also met with local organisations involved in marine protection and conservation and rounded off their day with a stroll along Grand Anse beach.

They’re currently in Cuba where they have become the first British royals to ever visit the country in a historic four-day visit. They’ll make a final stop in the Cayman Islands before returning home.
