The InterContinental Hotel in Dublin played host to two superstar acts last week when Mariah Carey and the Spice Girls checked in ahead of their gigs in the Irish capital.
The InterContinental in Dublin’s Ballsbridge has become the preferred hideaway for many high-profile celebrities. Its location at the outskirts of the city centre and proximity to almost every major landmark and concert venue in Dublin make it a practical option. Over the years the five-star hotel has hosted the likes of Adele, Justin Timberlake and Britney Spears and most recently Mariah Carey, who checked in last Tuesday ahead of the opening night of the European leg of her Caution world tour in Dublin, and the Spice Girls, who launched their comeback tour in Dublin’s Croke Park on Friday.
It was reported in the Irish Independent that Mariah booked an entire floor at the hotel during her stay there, which includes the most spacious five-star suite in the city: the James Joyce Suite. At 2600 square feet, it’s a veritable home from home (although maybe not Mariah’s home) with three interconnecting rooms. Inside there’s a king-sized bedroom, a living room, a dining room, a fully stocked bar, an Italian marble bathroom stocked with L’Occitane toiletries, fresh floral arrangements and a collection of James Joyce’s famous works.
While in Dublin, the singer posted a video to Instagram which appeared to be taken from the balcony of her hotel suite, as she captured footage of a rainbow in the distance. “Hello Ireland,” she wrote. “Thank you for this gorgeous welcome rainbow. Can’t wait for opening night of the #CautionWorldTour in Europe on Wednesday right here in Dublin!”
Meanwhile, Mel B shared Instagram stories from the hotel’s plush executive suites on Wednesday as the Spice Girls prepared for the opening night of their comeback tour. The band played Dublin’s Croke Park on Friday, their first performance as a group (minus Victoria Beckham) since they played the 2012 Olympics closing ceremony in London.
