People head on holidays to relax and chill out, but if it’s fun that you’re after while in the US, one report has compiled a list of the best states to visit.
Personal finance website, WalletHub, compiled its report, 2019’s Most Fun States in America, to determine the states offering the greatest variety and most cost-effective options for enjoyment. It compared the 50 states under two categories, “entertainment & recreation” and “nightlife.” The 26 criteria examined included the number of movie theatres, golf clubs, festivals, restaurants and casinos per capita, as well as accessibility of national parks, ideal weather and highest public and personal expenditure on recreation.
The results ranked California as the most fun state in the US under the “entertainment & recreation” category. Aside from having more movie theatres and restaurants per capita than other states, the Golden State is home to attractions like Disneyland, where Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge has just opened, the natural beauty of Redwood National Park, and the movie glam of Hollywood. It is also a world leader in technology and art.
Florida came in second place, partly helped by coming top for the number of marinas there, and the fact that it is home to attractions like Walt Disney World, Universal Studios and Everglades National Park. The rest of the top ten included 3. New York 4. Washington 5. Colorado 6. Nevada 7. Minnesota 8. Pennsylvania 9. Oregon and 10. Texas.
When it came to the “nightlife” category, Nevada came in top place. This is probably due to it being the home of Las Vegas, the city that never sleeps and has multiple shows, casinos and restaurants constantly in operation. Wisconsin came in second place, Illinois was third, New York came fourth and Louisiana was fifth.
