If you’re an adrenaline-junkie who enjoys a thrilling waterslide, you may enjoy an inside view of what it’s like to plummet 135 feet down the tallest water slide in the US.

The slide is called Daredevil’s Peak, and it forms part of Thrill Waterpark on the private island, Perfect Day at CocoCay, in The Bahamas. The waterpark is at the heart of the action on cruise line Royal Caribbean International’s newly-transformed island, and it has produced a video showing how the slide was conceived and what it’s like to plunge down it.
The dramatic slide sends riders down a series of twists that contain multi-coloured lights and a section in darkness, and the amazing engineering feat has been constructed on nine acres of land. It can be found at Daredevil’s Tower, which is home to seven waterslides in total, including the twin Dueling Demons drop slides, which launch riders from a vertical position.

There is also Manta Raycers, where friends can race down twin open flume slides, the high-speed fully vertical Screeching Serpent slide, and the coiling Green Mamba, a massive aqua tub. The waterpark also contains the Caribbean’s largest wave pool, and there’s another set of family-friendly rides in Splash Summit.

The island was developed at a cost of $200m (£158m) and its attractions include the relaxing beach area, Chill Island, Oasis Lagoon, the Caribbean’s largest freshwater pool, and the action-packed South Beach where guests can go paddle-boarding and glass-bottom kayaking. They can also take a helium balloon ride called Up, Up and Away, which floats up to 450 feet in the air and gives the highest vantage point in The Bahamas.
