The idea of glamping is one that is growing ever-more popular, but one unusual location that you will be able to glamp this year is the top deck of a cruise ship. Celebrity Cruises’ newest ship, Celebrity Flora, is purpose-built for the Galapágos Islands in Ecuador and guests will be able to dine, drink and sleep under the stars while at sea.

The energy-efficient ship will accommodate 100 guests and its outward-facing design will give them 360-degree views of the islands. While on board, they will be tended to by personal suite attendants, and can avail of an open-air stargazing platform and expert-lead ecological seminars.

Four guests per night will be able to book the top-deck experience, giving them access to two cabanas. One is for dining al fresco and the other contains a double bed for sleeping outside. To further enhance the glamping experience, the cuisine provided is campfire-inspired.
“From the luxurious all-suite accommodations to industry-first, eco-friendly innovations, we’ve created a ship that brings a new level of luxury, sustainability and natural exploration to the region,” says Lisa Lutoff-Perlo, president and CEO, Celebrity Cruises. “Guests will feel as though they’re boarding a high-end yacht for a week of unparalleled adventures, and they are!”
Guests will be able to unwind in the Vista, an open-air hideaway with 360-degree views, cocoon-style loungers and private cabanas. There is an observatory with floor-to-ceiling glass and guests can participate in a guided astronomy tour or enjoy starlit skies on their own from the stargazing platform. Then there’s the Discovery Lounge, which will be home to expert naturalist presentations and excursion information.
Celebrity Flora will sail from Baltra year-round offering two seven-night itineraries, and its first sailing will take place on 26 May 2019. Each of these itineraries can be complemented with packages that include including pre- and post-cruise tours in Quito, the capital of Ecuador and to Machu Picchu in Peru.
