Dream job alert! Popular booking platform seeks candidates willing to lounge poolside and report back on social media—no prior experience required.
Through 25 June, Hotels.com is accepting applications for its first-ever roving “poolhop” position, and given the perks of the role, the competition is bound to be fierce. In what basically sounds like a paid vacation, the winner will visit six hotels in locations across the country, spending time by the pool, taking lots of pictures, and earning US$10,000 (€8837) for their trouble.
“No one wants to be sitting at a desk all summer,” Katie Junod, general manager of the Hotels.com brand in North America, said in a statement. “There are so many incredible hotel pools to explore across the country, and we want to give travelers a first-hand look at the crème de la crème.”
With the company paying their way, the newly-annointed poolhop will spend two weeks in August traveling from luxury property to luxury property—Hawaii’s Four Seasons Hualalai, the Mondrian Los Angeles, SLS Las Vegas, Garden of the Gods Club and Resort in Colorado Springs, the William Vale Hotel in Brooklyn, and Miami’s National Hotel—collecting photos for the Hotels.com website and social channels, consuming fruity beverages, and comparing hotel robes.
Thinking of throwing your hat in the ring? Brush up on that sunscreen-application technique and dust off the ol’ portfolio. You’ll need to show your love for the hotel life and your talent for capturing FOMO-inducing vacation snaps, plus, in 200 words or less, pitch yourself as the ideal candidate and review your favorite pool—an extra-long Instagram caption, if you will. (You’ll also need to know how to swim, and be a US resident at least 21 years old.)
The person who earns the gig will also receive eternal bragging rights—not that they’ll need them. After all, a picture’s worth a thousand words.
