‘Game of Thrones’ water show in Las Vegas brings fire to Bellagio’s fountains

By Adenekan

If you’re a ‘Game of Thrones’ fan and on vacation in Las Vegas, you won’t want to miss the dramatic display at the world-famous fountains at the Bellagio casino-resort. Over the next two weeks, ahead of the scheduled premiere of the HBO series’ final season, a 3.5 minute spectacle will see scenes from the fantasy drama projected onto the fountains, culminating in the lake erupting in fire.

Familiar elements from the show are projected onto the water, including dragons breathing orange flames, with 800 water jets choreographed to dance to a score incorporating the TV program’s recognizable theme song.

The jets come together to form the show’s iconic throne and crown, and as the production gathers pace and energy, it charges towards the dramatic finale. Those who get to enjoy the dramatic demonstration will get to feel the heat as one of the fire-eating dragons lights up the 3.6-hectare lake in a dramatic blaze of pyrotechnics.

While the display was designed to promote Season 8 of Game of Thrones, it does not reveal any elements of the new season, which begins on 14 April. The show was created by Wet Design and the music for the new attraction was written by Ramin Djawadi, the regular composer of soundtracks for GOT. The music score begins with Djawadi’s “Winter is Here” from the show’s seventh season, before segueing into the series’ main theme song.

The spectacular show can be seen nightly at the Bellagio at 8pm and 9.30pm until 13 April.
