If you like to seek out the perfect backdrop for your Instagram shots while on vacation, Carlsbad, a California seaside city located just 25-minutes north of San Diego, has announced the results of the 2019 Colors of Travel Study.
The study researched the trending colors used in inspirational travel photos across social media and the colour psychology that informed them. Influencer marketing platform, Fohr, selected 75 influencers with an Instagram following of 50,000 or greater, and analysed their five most engaged Instagram photos to determine the four most common colors.
The trending colors for 2019 were found to be Pantone 16-1522 Rose Dawn, a gentle and warm dusty pink; Pantone 15-4323 Ethereal Blue, an open and expansive blue hue; Pantone 19-4535 Ocean Depths, a refreshing deep teal reminiscent of the color of the sea; and Pantone 16-0948 Harvest Gold, a warmly-lit solarized shade emblematic of autumn’s yellow florals.
Informed by the results of the study, Visit Carlsbad and the Pantone Color Institute developed the second annual Colors of Carlsbad palette to showcase how these individual trending colors come to life to form a cohesive palette in Carlsbad. It says that compared to the vibrant hues from a similar study in 2018, 2019’s palette reflects grounded, earthy and calming hues.
If you want to experience all these shades, the city has launched a variety of multicolored culinary offerings, wellness treatments and outdoor experiences in its restaurants, resorts, and spas. Additional vivid experiences include a color-packed picnic and electric bike ride at Pedego Carlsbad, and an outdoor art installation at the Carlsbad Art Wall.
“From the open and expansive blue sky that conjures up endless opportunities for outdoor recreation and the soothing deep teal lagoon waters, to the savory and spicy golden yellow suggestive of exotic culinary surprises and warming rose tone of the wondrous sunrise, this year’s colors highlighted in the 2019 Colors of Travel Study brings to life the unique beauty of Carlsbad’s natural surroundings and wellness-oriented lifestyle,” says Laurie Pressman, VP of the Pantone Color Institute.
