Chicago’s Six Flags Great America theme park has debuted the fastest rollercoaster launch in North America, complete with train cars modelled on Formula One racing cars.
The Chicago theme park is inviting guests on a heart-pumping thrill ride with the world record-breaking Maxx Force. Not only does the park’s newest rollercoaster offer the fastest launch of any rollercoaster in North America, it also breaks two world records for the tallest double inversion and the fastest inversion on the planet. Terrifying and thrilling at the same time, right?
Using air-powered technology, the Maxx Force launches riders from zero to 78 miles-per-hour in under two seconds (yikes!). They’re immediately then propelled up to 175 feet (53 metres) for the world’s tallest double inversion, before speeding along the tracks at 60 miles-per-hour (95kph) through a corkscrew loop in one-of-a-kind custom trains modelled after Formula One racing cars.
“Maxx Force is absolutely revolutionary, taking Six Flags innovation to an all-new level of extreme,” said Six Flags Great America Park president Hank Salemi. “The breathtaking acceleration of this coaster alone makes it an incredible ride, but add three record-breaking features plus five high-speed inversions and you have an astonishing coaster experience unrivalled by any other ride in all of North America.”
The ride takes just 25 seconds to complete but that could feel like a lifetime, depending on how you really feel about high-intensity rollercoasters. Tickets to Six Flags Great America cost from US$59.99 (£47.75) for a day pass, with 65 rides and attractions included.
