Fancy staying in a house with its own escape room, waterslides and game-themed rooms? Better question: did you even know such a place existed?
The Great Escape Lakeside in Clermont, Florida isn’t too far from Walt Disney World but visitors to the Airbnb rental may not even need to visit the world-famous theme park. This house is essentially a mini-theme park itself. The 15-bedroom is a wacky, games-lovers’ paradise, designed to unleash the inner child in absolutely anyone who visits.
Inside there’s a private Jumanji-themed cinema, a laser maze bedroom, a fully-loaded arcade, a chess board floor game, an escape room game that’s based off the board game, Clue (or Cluedo if you’re British), a casino with a roulette table and countless oddities. Each bedroom is based on a different game, including a Monopoly-themed room where the closet looks like a jail, and a bedroom where guests can unscramble the large Scrabble tiles that decorate the room to win a prize.
The fun continues outside with a human bowling game (complete with giant zorb ball) a swimming pool, a lazy river and two water slides. There’s also a human foosball and a giant outdoor TV. Guests can also take out pedal boats, kayaks and canoes on the property’s private freshwater lake or explore the surrounding pine woods through hiking trails.
Homeowners Andrew and Belinda Greenstein have clearly created a fun, memorable place to stay. Such is the demand for stays in the Clermont home that the couple recently opened a second game-themed Airbnb rental in nearby Groveland called Great Escape Parkside… and it’s even bigger than this one.
If you’re interested in staying, take the whole gang with you. Great Escape Lakeside can sleep up to 43 people with 13 bedrooms and 11 bathrooms, while the Parkside home can sleep up to 53 people in 15 bedrooms.
