If you’re planning a trip to Las Vegas in 2019, your vacation has become even more exciting thanks to a new line-up of musical acts that are due to perform there. Lady Gaga, Aerosmith, Lady Antebellum, Britney Spears, James Taylor, Billy Idol and Smokey Robinson will all be entertaining visitors in the City of Lights next year, and when you consider that Cher, Mariah Carey and Celine Dion already have residencies there too, that’s some group of heavy-hitters in one city.
The performances to look forward to include American pop superstar, Lady Gaga, who will perform 27 shows between 28 December and 9 June at Park MGM. There are two shows to choose from: Enigma, which features her pop hits, and Jazz and Piano, which will be stripped-down versions of her hits and classics. American rock band, Aerosmith, will also perform at the same venue, with 18 performances between 6 April and 9 July. The Park will also be the venue for pop star Britney Spear’s 32-show residency between 15 February through 17 August.

The Palms Casino Resort will play host to American country music group, Lady Antebellum, who will play 15 shows between 8 February and 31 August. It will also be the venue for English musician, Billy Idol, who will perform 10 shows in January 2019 and five shows in October. American singer-songwriter, James Taylor, will perform 12 shows at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace between 17 April and 11 May 2019, and Smokey Robinson will perform at Wynn Las Vegas on 27 February, 1 March and 2 March at the age of 79.
While performers earn a lot of money from their LA performances, it is worth it for venues to host them. According to the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, almost six in ten visitors attended shows during their stay and 21% of those saw a headliner act. While Las Vegas has always attracted big names, the modern trend of residencies and extended engagements began with Celine Dion, whose first residency was from March 2003 to December 2007 at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.

Her latest residency began in 2011 and will end on 8 June 2019. Cher’s residency began at the Park Theatre in February 2017 and will end on 30 March, 2019. And then there’s Mariah Carey, who has extended her residency with five additional dates in February at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
