The latest details on Disney’s Star Wars lands

By Adenekan

As anticipation builds for the new Star Wars lands at Disneyland and Disneyworld, new details will help excite fans as they wait for the parks to open in 2019.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge was announced back in 2015 and the themed lands are expected to open in California and Florida in 2019. The company’s chairman of parks and experience, Bob Chapek, announced this week new details about the attractions, including that guests will be able to take the controls “in one of three unique and critical roles aboard Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run”. That means that Star Wars fans will get the chance to live out their Han Solo dreams as the crew of the most famous ship in the galaxy.

There will also be a new experience, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, where guests will get to face off against Kylo Ren during a battle between the First Order and the Resistance. Disney also released a new video, filmed inside that actual attraction, which gives guests a sense of what they can expect when the park opens next year.

The attractions will likely be what draw in the most visitors, but there will also be interactive components and so much more to bring the galaxy to life. The music for Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will feature original pieces by Academy Award-winning composer John Williams, who wrote the critically acclaimed scores for the original Star Wars films.

There have also been more details released on the Star Wars resort that will open at Walt Disney World Resort. According to Disney, “this multi-day, fully immersive adventure will take guests aboard a luxury starship with all the features expected of a first-class hotel, including dining, recreation, and accommodations, all authentic to the Star Wars universe.”

Since the Star Wars fan base may span a greater age range than other Disney attractions, it was welcome news when the company announced earlier this year that the new Star Wars-themed cantinas will serve alcohol.
