The first lucky guests may have already had the chance to experience Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Disneyland, but there are more exciting things to come as Disney announces opening dates for a new attraction.
The company announced that the new immersive attraction, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, will open on 5 December at Walt Disney World Resort in Florida. While Galaxy’s Edge is currently open at Disneyland and not in Florida, the sunshine state will get the new attraction first, while California’s will open on 17 January, 2020.
The editorial content director for Disney Parks, Thomas Smith, explained in a blog post that this will be “the most immersive and advanced attraction ever imagined in a Disney Park”. The new attraction will “blur the lines between fantasy and reality and will put guests in the middle of a climactic battle between the First Order and the Resistance”. The guests will be recruited by Rey and General Organa at a secret base, where they will then be captured by a First Order Star Destroyer. “With the help of some heroes of the Resistance, they break out and must escape the Star Destroyer, protect the secret base, and stay one step ahead of Kylo Ren”.
While the new attractions won’t be open for months, crowds are still flocking to the current offerings at Galaxy’s Edge. Haven’t had a chance to go yet? Find out what it’s like in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
