You can get paid to live and work closer to nature this fall, soaking up breathtaking views and breathing in fresh air at Yellowstone National Park.
There’s a growing awareness of the health and wellness benefits from contact with nature, a concept known as biophilia. Spending time outdoors, even if it’s just two hours, is good for you. The majority of us have to squeeze in some outdoor time in between the hours we spend at the office and bedtime but imagine if your workspace was closer to nature. Imagine it was in one of the most celebrated national parks in the US.
Yellowstone National Park Lodges is looking for seasonal and part-time workers this fall. Successful applicants are required to work 20 hours per week, between four and eight hours per day, in jobs that vary between working in lodging or the food and beverage department. Training will be provided for each role and daily tasks can vary so a good deal of flexibility is key.
According to Helping Hands, the organization that runs the program, participants live inside the park in basic dorm-like accommodation. There’s no TV, although there is a Wi-Fi connection, and participants are encouraged to spend as much time as possible outdoors on their downtime. They’re also automatically included in the free employee recreation programme where they’ll avail of outdoor activities like hiking, photography, camping, wildlife watching and more.
Those who are interested in signing up are encouraged to bring along a friend. Helping Hands says, “if you have a spouse, partner, or friend to join you, you can work the 20 hours (or more if you’d like) and then enjoy Yellowstone together for the rest of the week.”
To get involved you just need to submit your application now for the fall season, which begins on either September 5 or 12 2019. Participants will be assigned to work at either Old Faithful, Canyon Village, Mammoth, Grant Village, or Lake Yellowstone.
