It’s hard to believe it’s been 15 years since America’s favorite love story hit the big screen. I’m talking, of course, about The Notebook. This month marks the milestone anniversary of Allie and Noah’s fabled romance, and now travelers can celebrate by following in their footsteps.
HarbourView Inn in Charleston, South Carolina is offering the Allie & Noah’s Timeless Romance Experience where love birds can relive the movie scene-by-scene in actual filming locations. The fairytale escape begins with a dozen roses in your room upon arrival to set the mood. From there, the package includes visits to some of the most iconic spots where Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams shot complete with hotel-arranged perks.
You can head to Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream— where Allie licks ice cream off Noah’s face—with a $25 gift card. Take a private carriage ride for two around the Historic District where the pair strolled down King Street to the American Theatre. You’ll stop there where a personalized romantic saying can be displayed on the marquee and remember the scene where Noah asks Allie to dance and lay in the street.
Also included are two tickets and private transportation to Boone Hall Plantation & Gardens (home to Allie’s family summer house); general admission for two to Magnolia Plantation and Gardens complete with house tour and Audubon Swamp Garden tour (where Noah rows Allie in a canoe through the swamp); a $100 gift card for dinner at High Cotton (where Allie was dining with her new fiancé when Noah walked by). And because Allie woke up in one scene to flowers on her pillow, you’ll get rose petal turndown with a bottle of sparkling wine.
“This was a chance for us to highlight Charleston and the quintessential romance of the south,” Mark Henry, general manager of Charleston’s HarbourView Inn, told Lonely Planet. “Our team at HarbourView Inn has always strived to provide a bespoke, service-oriented Charleston experience and curating a package that gives guests the ability to recreate what has become one of the classic romance movies of the current generation was yet another way to offer a unique opportunity to our guests.”
Guests who book the package get to stay in one of the hotel’s Grand HarbourView Rooms, which feature an intimate gas fireplace and private furnished balconies offering views of the historic harbor, Waterfront Park and famed Pineapple Fountain.
The cost for the ultimate romantic trip? The package starts at US$2000 (€1767) a couple.
