If you’re a fan of iconic singer Cher, you may enjoy staying a hotel in New York City that pays tribute both to her and a show that is centred around her.
The Sofitel hotel has a Cher-themed suite that will be available to stay at from June to September. The suite will feature a signed poster from the cast of the jukebox musical, The Cher Show, which is running at the Neil Simon Theatre on Broadway, as well as some original costumes from the show.
It will also feature a Time magazine cover signed by both Cher and her costume designer, Bob Mackie. In addition, portraits of Cher drawn by celebrity illustrator, Al Hirschfeld, will adorn the suite.
To enhance the whole experience, fans can also enjoy a post or pre-show Cher cocktail called ‘Turn Back Thyme’ in Gaby Bar at the hotel. It is made from gin, lime juice, ginger beer, thyme-infused simple syrup and candied ginger.
The Sofitel is located in Midtown Manhattan, a 15-minute walk from the Neil Simon Theatre, where The Cher Show is playing. It takes the audience from Cher’s variety show era to her superstar days. The story follows three versions of Cher – named Babe, Lady and Star – from her childhood, her relationship with Sonny Bono, their divorce and her subsequent solo pop stardom. Three different actresses play the famous diva, who has actually joined the cast on stage.
The Cher-themed suite is available for bookings at the Sofitel New York hotel from June 10 to September 15, and prices begin at US$499 (€446) per night. If you believe that this is the room for you, the hotel’s website can be found here.
