Environmentally-friendly glamping company Under Canvas wants to bring the glamping experience to everyone, regardless of their budget with a pay-what-you-can campaign.
Glamping is basically camping for fancy people; people who can afford extra home-comforts like beds, thick blankets and room to stand up in. Like any getaway, it’s a fantastic experience if you can afford it – a tempting fusion of the great outdoors and little luxuries. But many of us are living on tight budgets and can’t afford a vacation at all, let alone glamping.
In fact, a recent study from Bankrate.com found that 39 million Americans won’t go on any vacation this year because they can’t afford to. It was this revelation that encouraged Under Canvas CEO, Sarah Dusek, to launch the company’s #paywhatyoucan campaign, to give people the opportunity to take a luxury glamping vacation at a price that’s within their budget.
Under Canvas operates from eight luxury glamping resorts near some of the most iconic national parks in the US. Inspired by the African safari experience, Under Canvas company founders, Sarah and Jacob Dusek, set out to create an immersive outdoor escape in beauty spots like the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, the Great Smoky Mountains, Moab, Mount Rushmore, Zion and Glacier. At each camp, there are a number of tent options for travellers that could rival any luxury hotel room and a range of activities for guests.
Those who wish to apply for a reduced package price can do so here, explaining why they’d like to be selected for a trip, their destination of choice, how many people are in their household, and provide some details of their budget. Deadline is Tuesday, 4 June.
