Time Out Market, the Lisbon food and drink hall that’s one of Portugal’s most popular attractions, launched in Miami this week, with plans to open further markets in New York City, Chicago and Boston later this year.
Time Out Market opened in Miami on 9 May at the site of a former Macy’s on 1601 Drexel Avenue. Just like the Lisbon flagship, the food hall brings together the city’s best chefs and restaurateurs in the one place to showcase their biggest menu hits. Miami’s award-winning mixologists are also on hand to serve up cocktails to thirsty guests, alongside carefully selected wines, spirits and beers across three different bars.
Guests can choose from over 100 dishes at 18 different counter-service eateries ranging in styles and cuisines. Notable chefs like Top Chef season 13 winner Jeremy Ford will open a Korean counter, while Bread & Butter’s Alberto Cabrera will host a Cuban sandwich shop. Ariete’s ‘Chef of the Year’ Michael Beltran is bringing wood-grilled meats and seasonal vegetables to his spot Leña and the city’s famous New York-style deli (Stephen’s Deli) will host its own spin-off counter there too.
“Our guests can choose from culinary masterpieces, delicious tacos, vegan fare, sushi bowls, beautiful patisserie and more – there really is something for everyone,” said Didier Souillat, CEO of Time Out Market. “We are dedicated to the democratisation of fine dining, so everything here is affordable. Now that Time Out Market Miami is open, the hottest tables in town are communal.”
Time Out Market Miami is open daily from 8am. Some eateries will serve breakfast items to start the day like juice, pastries and coffee, while all vendors will open at 11am. From Sunday to Thursday it will close at 11pm and on Friday and Sunday at midnight.
Time Out Market will launch in Boston, New York and Chicago later this year. Further afield there are plans to open food halls in Montréal in 2019, Dubai in 2020, London-Waterloo in 2021 and Prague in 2022.
