Royal Caribbean passengers have one more picture-perfect destination to add to their itinerary as the cruise line reopens its transformed private island in the Bahamas, complete with white-sand beaches and the largest waterslide in North America.

Royal Caribbean has just completed the $250 million transformation of the line’s private island in the Bahamas. Perfect Day at CocoCay is the first of the cruise line’s collection of private islands around the world. This one is specifically tailored to thrill seekers and families, with a range of imaginative activities to keep all ages entertained.
Guests can plunge down the tallest waterslide in North America (Daredevil’s Peak which reaches a whopping 135 feet), travel up to 450 feet in the air in a helium balloon or scale even more thrilling heights along the 1600-foot-long zip line.

For those looking to relax, Perfect Day features what the line claims is the Caribbean’s largest freshwater pool, Oasis Lagoon, and white sand beaches with crystal-clear waters. Drinks are available at Captain Jack’s bar, while breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at Chill Grill. From December, guests will be able to rent private cabanas on the island, with infinity pools, overwater hammocks and dedicated attendants.

Perfect Day at CocoCay is exclusive to guests of Royal Caribbean. Guests can visit the private island by booking a trip on one of 11 of the global cruise line’s ships from autumn where they’ll be treated to a series of firsts on board, such as surfing, skydiving, ice skating and even the tallest slide at sea.

Entry to the resort is included in the cost of the cruise but access to certain parts of the island costs extra. Thrill Waterpark passes cost $44 (£34) to $99 (£76) per person, depending on the season, while the zip line costs between $79 (£61) and $139 (£107), and the balloon ride between $39 (£30) and $99 (£76) per ride.
