Memorial Day weekend is coming up soon, kicking off the summer season in the US. While staying home to barbecue on 27 May is an option, you could also hop on a plane and head somewhere truly exciting. Travel booking site Kayak has run the numbers and found the most affordable places for a weekend getaway, based on the median price for flights.

Hilo, Hawaii
This town on the Big Island will give travellers access to places like Hawai’i Volcanoes National Park, interesting museums and a ton of different restaurants to sample. According to Kayak, the median airfare is only $190.
