Treat your dog to a $42 ribeye steak at this NYC restaurant

By Adenekan

Dining in New York City has gone to the dogs, it seems. Already famous for being a diverse hot spot for food-lovers from all walks of life, one restaurant in the Big Apple has introduced a menu specifically for pooches.

You can now treat your canine companion to a delicious and healthy meal at The Wilson.

Available at The Wilson at 132 West 27th Street (located in INNSIDE by Meliá New York NoMad), the Dog Menu has been specially tailored for four-legged companions. The restaurant’s culinary director Jeff Haskell was inspired by the restaurant’s canine mascot (who also happens to be his bulldog) Stella, and decided to try his hand at creating a selection of pooch-friendly dishes that may even tempt owners too.

The menu includes a $42 (€48) 16-ounce grilled ribeye steak served with baby vegetables and a steak jus, pan-roasted salmon with steamed veggies and lemon ($28/€32) and a grilled chicken breast ($16/€18). There is even a “spa day” option that features a bowl of sliced apples and heirloom carrots, or a bowl of mixed berries. The menu is exclusively available on the restaurant’s side patio, and will also be available on the front terrace during the warmer summer months.

While splashing out $42 on a steak for your furry friend may be a lavish gesture, a portion of The Wilson’s Dog Menu is donated to a different charity each month. From now until the end of May, proceeds will be going to Canine Companions for Independence.

“The team decided we should offer this menu because we all love dogs! Why not include ALL of our friends when we dine out? My wife and I have a very sensitive English Bulldog named Stella. I cook the items on the menu for her at home and she loves them, so it made sense to offer her ‘favourites’ at The Wilson. I hope all of our canine guests thoroughly enjoy the food and hospitality. I’ve had dogs my whole life. They really are family members. It’s nice to be able to offer a unique experience for our pups,” Jeff Haskell, culinary director of The Wilson told Lonely Planet Travel News.

More information is available at The Wilson’s official website.
