As the most-visited museum in the world, the Louvre can sometimes feel more like a chaotic market than an art-filled oasis. But later this month, a lucky winner will get an incredible chance to enjoy the museum in solitude.
Airbnb and the Louvre have teamed up to transform the museum into a unique home for one night only on 30 April, where a contest winner and their guest will get to enjoy masterpieces like the Mona Lisa without the crowds. Perhaps most incredibly, they will get to sleep under the Louvre’s iconic glass pyramid inside of an even smaller pyramid to celebrate the 30th anniversary of structure.
When the lucky pair arrives at the Louvre, they will be greeted by an art-historian who will lead them on a bespoke tour of the most incredible pieces the museum, much like the ones given to people like Barack Obama, and Beyoncé and Jay-Z.
According to Airbnb, the guests will “toast the Mona Lisa with a cosy Renaissance inspired aperitif, while relaxing on a sumptuous Parisian lounge sofa, listening to the atmospheric sounds of French music on vinyl records. Venus of Milo, the Greek goddess of love and beauty, will then ‘host’ an extravagant feast in a pop-up dining room. And lastly, guests will be treated to an intimate acoustic concert in Napoleon III’s lavish chambers”.
After all those fun experiences, the guests will then be able to head to their room under the pyramid for a nice relaxed sleep. If you want to enter, go to airbnb.com/louvre before 12 April and answer why you’d be the Mona Lisa’s perfect guest.
While there is only one winner of the contest, the Louvre will be offering a number of experiences at the museum that will be bookable on Airbnb this year. While they will include things like exclusive visits and intimate concerts, more details will be revealed in the coming weeks.
