New rules are coming into force for Disney visitors

By Adenekan

With Disney anticipating a surge in interest ahead of the opening of the new Star Wars-themed lands, new rules are coming into force for people visiting Disneyland in California and Walt Disney World in Florida.

Effective from 1 May, visitors will no longer be able to smoke inside both theme parks, water parks, ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex and Downtown Disney District in California. Smokers will have to use designated smoking areas located outside the entrances, and smoking areas are also available at Disney Resort hotels.

Also from 1 May, strollers must be no larger than 31 inches wide and 52 inches long, and stroller wagons will not be permitted inside the parks. A new rule that has also come into immediate effect is that if you plan to bring a cooler or cooler bag to store snacks and drinks with you, loose or dry ice is no longer permitted in the parks.

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge will open at Disneyland on 31 May and Walt Disney World on 29 August. As lines are expected to be long and will weave through themed halls, Disneyland has revealed that it is introducing a system for those who will need a bathroom trip. Riders will obtain a bathroom pass from a Disney employee, and when they return, they will wait near the FastPass merge location. Once their friends get close to that point, they’ll be able to rejoin them.
