There’s a very cool Banksy artwork in this new restaurant in Las Vegas

A new restaurant is due to open in Las Vegas in April, and it will be filled with cool artistic touches including a piece by anonymous street-art legend Banksy.

The 5000-sq ft Greene St. Kitchen restaurant at the Palms Casino Resort will contain the spray-painted artwork, Smiley Coppers Panel I (2002). It depicts two armed police officers with yellow smiley faces, and it will be the first permanent Banksy work in Las Vegas.

The artwork comes from the personal collection of casino resort owners, Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta. Designed by Rockwell Group, other touches at the restaurant include an entrance passage lined with vintage arcade games and a gold birdcage-like structure for a bar.

The restaurant pays homage to the artistic communities in New York’s SoHo neighbourhood during the early 1980s, with a collection of curated street art, including a colourful Kenny Scharf mural. Executive chef Joseph Zanelli and chef de cuisine Lanny Chin are at the helm of the restaurant.

Greene St. Kitchen is connected to the new day club and nightclub Kaos, which will open on 4 April with entertainment from artists like Cardi B, Marshmello, G-Eazy, J Balvin, Travis Scott, Skrillex and Kaskade. Visitors can check out Damien Hirst’s 60-foot-tall sculpture, Demon With Bowl, at the resort, as well as a preserved, 13-foot-long tiger shark in three steel tanks. The Fertittas’ collection also includes artworks from Basquiat, Andy Warhol, Richard Prince and Takashi Murakami.
