Fans of the Star Wars franchise have been eagerly awaiting the opening dates for Disney’s new Star Wars-themed lands, and now those dates have been set much sooner than anticipated.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge was originally slated to open at Disneyland this summer and at Disney World this fall. But now, they will open ahead of schedule, with California’s Disneyland opening its themed lands on 31 May and at Florida’s Disney World on 29 August. According to Disney, the opening comes after plenty of interest from fans – fuelled by the continual release of details on the attractions and experiences.
As there’s no doubt that there will be high demand to be among the first people to visit, guests who want to visit Disneyland’s Star Wars attraction between 31 May and 23 June will have to make a free reservation, subject to availability, to gain access. More information on the reservation process will be released on Disneyland.com at a later date. However, anyone staying at one of Disneyland Resort hotels during that time will get a designated reservation.

Those who plan to visit the Florida Star Wars lands will not be required to get a reservation, but a valid theme park admission to Disney’s Hollywood Studios is required and capacity is limited. For guests staying at Walt Disney World Resort hotels, access to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is available during Extra Magic Hours, which gives those guests extra time at select attractions. More details on that will be released on Disneyworld.com at a later date.
