By Adenekan

Travellers looking to get away from it all can retreat into the incredible wilderness of the Great Smoky Mountains without giving up on any luxuries at a newly opened resort.

Blackberry Mountain is located on 5200 acres in Eastern Tennessee, just next to Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the most visited in the USA. A sister resort to Blackberry Farm, it’s home to 18 stone cottages – with features like a private outdoor patio, a wood-burning fireplace and a soaking tub – six watchman’s cabins, and larger multi-bedroom homes.

With wilderness all around, the property offers up with immersive outdoor and wellness activities, including aerial yoga, trail running, forest bathing, paddle boarding and more. There are also restorative treatments in the spa, a tranquillity lounge, saunas, steam showers, salon and an outdoor, year-round heated pool with an infinity edge. There’s also naturopathic consultations and complimentary fitness classes.

For those who would rather eat than go to a fitness class, the resort offers food and drink designed to go with the incredible views from the property’s main restaurant, Three Sisters. There’s also a dining room in a historic firetower that has been restored. Travellers who enjoy wine can note that Blackberry Mountain is also focused on sustainable wines and winemaking practices, and is home to a subterranean wine cellar with more than 10,000 bottles.

Blackberry Mountain is located in Walland, Tennessee, seven miles from Blackberry Farm. Find out more here.
