The world’s first MasterChef restaurant is launching in Dubai

By Adenekan

If you’re a fan of MasterChef, Dubai will hold an added attraction for you in the form of the world’s first restaurant dedicated to the hugely popular international TV series. ‘MasterChef, the TV Experience’ restaurant is set to open at the new Millennium Place Marina in April, and series contestants and champions will share their stories and experiences with guests through signature dishes served during short-term residencies.

Venezuelan-born chef, Maria ‘Margarita’ Vaamonde-Beggs, will head the kitchen set-up and menu creation for the restaurant, which will accommodate 180 people. The dining experience will showcase the talents and recipes of MasterChef series contestants from many of the 52 territories where the programme is produced worldwide. MasterChef is the most successful cookery television format in the world, as it is seen in over 200 countries and watched globally by over 250 million viewers.

The restaurant will have an interior design concept inspired by the MasterChef TV set itself, and diners will be able to choose from a dynamic menu featuring popular original dishes conceived and inspired by series contestants and champions. The concept has come about because Dubai-based property developer, The First Group, signed a deal with Endemol Shine Group, which produces and distributes MasterChef. They plan to take the concept to other cities worldwide in the coming years.

“Dining at MasterChef, the TV Experience, will be an entirely immersive experience,” said Duncan Fraser-Smith, director of global food and beverage for The First Group. “It will establish an emotional connection through food, and nurture a passion for cooking at all levels of expertise across all ages and cultures, which is vital in a cosmopolitan hub such as Dubai.”
