Travellers in Mumbai can now explore the coast on demand with the launch of Uber Boat.
Uber has launched the service in the Indian port city along with the Maharashtra Maritime Board. Now, users will be able to order a speed boat to explore some of the city’s popular coastal spots, including to see the Gateway of India, to Elephanta Islands to explore the famous Elephanta Caves, and to Mandwa Jetty to the beach getaway of Alibaug.
Travellers can access two different kinds of boats, including a six- to eight-seater for Uber Boat, or a Uber Boat XL, which has more than ten seats. According to Uber, the goal is to make waterway commuting easy and efficient within Mumbai.

”Our vision is to make Mumbai as the sea transport and tourism hub of the country … As we continue to reimagine the waterways of Mumbai through a host of ambitious projects and partnerships, we believe Uber Boat will play a pivotal role in improving connectivity,” said Sanjay Bhatia, chairman of the Bombay Port Trust.
According to Uber, the boats will be equipped with safety features like life jackets, emergency contact details, printed collaterals along with a manual that highlights safety instructions. Rides in an Uber Boat are available for 5700 rupee (US$80) and Uber Boat XL at 9500 rupee (US$134).
Uber Boat is already available in other regions, like Croatia, where tourists can use it to explore the country’s amazing coastline and islands.
