If you want to travel more in 2019 but can’t quite figure out how you will afford it, a new airline sale might be just the ticket.

Icelandic airline Wow Air has announced what it’s calling its lowest airfare ever – US$49 flights from the US to Iceland and on to other European cities – though you will have to pay extra for any luggage, meals and much more. The tickets are available to travellers leaving from Boston Logan International Airport, Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey, and Detroit Metro Airport, and flying to or through Reykjavík-Keflavík Airport in Iceland, and on to Dublin, Brussels, Frankfurt and London Gatwick.

The tickets are for sale online at www.wowair.us until midnight 18 January or until the seats sell out. The tickets – which are based on the lowest one-way basic fare – are available for travel between 21 January and 11 March 11, 2019. Travellers must be booking a round-trip flight – with return flights starting around $149 – and there are a number of other restrictions for the sale. “We are excited to offer our lowest price ever to travellers dreaming of a Eurotrip this year,” said Skúli Mogensen, founder and CEO of Wow Air in a statement. “At Wow Air, we are committed to making travel more affordable and accessible to all as travelling is a culturally enriching, enjoyable and enlivening experience.”

Travellers leaving from the US can make a stop in Reykjavík on their way to other European cities. That way, they can make a quick stop to some of Iceland’s top attractions – like the Blue Lagoon – before heading on for a pint of Guinness in Dublin, or the Grand Place Market in Brussels and much more.
