Sleep surrounded by terracotta warriors in these suites in China

By Adenekan

The Terracotta Army is one of the biggest tourist attractions in China, bringing crowds of people to Xī’ān to marvel at the thousands of life-sized statues. But if you want to immerse yourself even further, a hotel with terracotta warrior-filled rooms will let you rest like an emperor.

Three themed-suites make up the rental, which is located in Xī’ān, home of the terracotta soldiers. According to the Straits Times, the Airbnb-style rental is owned by Guo Zhihua, a former taxi driver who spent many years driving travellers to see the nearby terracotta warriors. Since that time, he has collected replicas of the warriors and filled the three rooms with them, creating a themed getaway near the famous site. From life-sized statues that line to walls, to rows of tiny soldiers, the pieces fill each suite from the bed to the bathroom.

The rental recently gained attention after a blogger posted a funny video of himself spending a night in one of the rooms, and being mildly frightened by all of the statues and unable to sleep. For anyone who thinks they could rest easy among the soldiers, rooms cost between US$100 (€86) and US$200(€173) a night and have brought in thousands of visitors. In fact, the rooms are booked up until May, so anyone interested will have to plan far in advance.

The home provides a themed base for anyone looking to see the real terracotta warriors. Made more than 2000 years ago to guard the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang, the warriors were only unearthed in 1974 and have since grown into a massive draw for tourists.
