Travelling across Europe by train is a bucket-list adventure for many, and now anyone using a Eurail Global Pass can add three more countries to their 2019 itinerary.
The Eurail Global Pass from Rail Europe now includes Great Britain, Lithuania and Macedonia on the list of countries where pass-holders can enjoy unlimited train travel. The passes are designed to simplify European train travel for tourists from outside the continent, allowing them to buy a pass that works in numerous countries. With the three new places added, travellers who purchase the Eurail Global Pass can now visit 31 different countries around Europe.
The passes already cover popular journeys like Rome to Venice, Paris to Barcelona or Amsterdam to Berlin, but with the addition or Lithuania and Macedonia, travellers will be able to explore a bit more off-the-beaten-path. Users will even be able to travel outside of mainland Europe with the addition of Great Britain.
Travellers can buy flexi-passes that allow for three, five, or seven days of unlimited travel within a one-month period, with three-day tickets starting at US$274 (€240). For longer trips, users can purchase tickets that allow for ten or 15 days of travel within two months, which start at US$504 (€442) for ten days. There are also passes that allow for continuous travel for 15 days, 22 days, or one, two or three months. Three-month passes for continuous travel start at US$1132 (€994). Anyone planning a rail trip this year is in luck, as according to Rail Europe, the passes are up to 37% cheaper in 2019 than they were in 2018.
Only non-European citizens and residents can use a Eurail Pass, as any travellers from Europe can instead use an Interrail Pass. Find out more on the Eurail website.
